Gaming on the iOS and the Android is something I haven’t delved too much into but after purchasing an iPod Touch I decided to check out what’s out there. Many of the younger generation in my family have been asking for a i-Pod Touch instead of PSP’s and Nintendo DS’s lately. So one of my first purchases was Game Dev Story.
In Game Dev Story you are a small gaming company consisting of the owner, the secretary and two developers. Your goal is to develop video games and if possible become the best video game developer on the market. You will be responsible for buying development kits for game systems currently in the market, hiring staff, assigning jobs, marketing and getting your game out in a timely matter so you can make money and start developing the next big thing. Doing so will net you rewards such as an expanding fan base eager to buy your next product and of course the reason you start a business, making money. Do be careful of not creating your game on time, comingup with a bad game combination or just not focusing on a target audience when advertising. All will lead to loss of sales.
Definitely something I like to play during my commute when I have nothing to read. It’s easy to pick up for a few minutes then just saving and stopping until later on. Makes my hour commute home feel like a 20 minute ride. There are moments of course when you are just staring at the screen waiting on your product but the addictive quality of the game more than makes up for it. I’ve spent nights before bed telling myself one more development before I finally stop myself and go to sleep. It’s like Recettear all over again. If you haven’t picked it up already, Game Dev Story is definitely worth a look.
Game Dev Story is a available for both the Android and iOS devices.
